To be in tandem is to see the potential chemistry in a collection of discreet parts. In jazz pianist Dawn Clement’s newest release, Tandem, Clement explores the magic of musical pairs with some of her closest musical cohorts. Her album, recorded at Avast by Robb Davidson and Charlie Smith, includes a stacked list of musicians, from saxophonist Mark Taylor to lauded trombonist Julian Priester, who’s performed with artists like John Coltrane and Duke Ellington. The result is a collection of intimate conversations, so fresh and raw it’s as if the listener has eaves-dropped on Clement’s most guarded secrets.

"Her ability to inhabit many different head spaces, along with the high degree of comfort exhibited while residing in all of them, puts her in a class all her own."
